According to ISO 187, the standard atmospheres for paper and cardboard testing include:

• 20°C / 65% relative humidity (RH)
• 23°C / 50% RH
• 27°C / 65% RH

Paper conditioning procedure

The conditioning procedure is crucial for stabilizing the paper in a controlled atmosphere. This process involves a preconditioning phase in a low RH environment, followed by transferring it to the standard atmosphere to minimize hysteresis.

Moisture content control

A moisture content variation of less than 0.15% is expected for a sample conditioned at 50% RH and 23°C. Achieving an equilibrium state from a low RH is a standard practice unless otherwise indicated.
